For HFFR compounding, extruder components must be constructed from highly wear-resistant materials (like bi-metallic alloys or Tungsten Carbide coatings) to withstand abrasion from mineral flame retardants. Their design focuses on efficient mixing and gentle heat control to achieve uniform compounds while maintaining polymer integrity.

1. Screw Elements
Function: Core components mounted on screw shafts that convey, melt, mix, and pump plastic material.
Key Features for HFFR:
  • Material: Wear-resistant alloys (bi-metallic) to withstand abrasive mineral fillers like magnesium hydroxide (MDH) or aluminum hydroxide (ATH)
  • Surface Treatment: Tungsten Carbide (WC) coatings or hardening techniques (e.g., nitriding) to extend service life
